|| The First Time
That moment when you discover that you are taking that leap of faith. The time when your next reservation is made for a party of one. You feel it. That gut wrenching feeling, when you ask yourself, “what the heck am I doing right now?” That specific moment in time, when you feel all the insides of you begin to shake. You thought about it several times before, but now you come to witness the first few steps that you once previously imagined.
Asking someone you’ve never met before to come join you for a cup of tea. Speaking in front of an audience as big as the sky would allow you to see. Your first day at a new gym that you were hoping to join. Taking your first deep dive. Your first take at a musical performance. The experience unveils to you the most intimate feelings that you secretly keep to yourself. It triggers you to think much on the exhilaration. But it also unearths for you the many fearful and terrifying thoughts, by human nature. Do you feel it?
It may feel a bit icky. Like now submerging your hand in the rain beaten soil of the earth. Quite moist and icky a sensation. But much like the soil, once we have reached inside those parts of us that embrace the icky bits of the experiences, then can we start to enjoy, play around with and mould ourselves, to eventually graft ourselves into this new situation.
There is a force inside of us that sets us apart, propelling us to go after the things that we were already born to do. For this force carries us forth to test unchartered waters, totally moving the one away from his comfort zone. It is when the internal butterflies are noticed, the many thrills that take place inside of you, when the most unexplored emotions begin to seep out of you. It carries you off to do the things most foreign and least understood by you.
There is both a beauty and a pain happening at exactly the same time. For you imagined it many times before your actual first times. But first times are really the best times to come by your life. For it opens up room for much growth and exploring of the internal self.
Question not then, the why when you once again come face to face with your next 'first time,' but truly and wholeheartedly embrace the magic in the moment that comes to merrily greet you.
