Our Father loves to surprise man in ways we can never truly imagine. So, when one grows occupied in one direction, it is then that He graces him in an entirely different place. For He doesn’t want his headspace on the things He hopes to grant him. A surprise is a surprise without hope or expectation. This is what gladdens the heart, while making the unexpected occur in life. It is to release all to Him then, while one waits in prefect patience, continuing to take joy in the everyday things that he does, and just living in each moment as it comes; getting lost in the present activities of his world. When joy begins to fill his day as man focuses upon his daily tasks, it is then and only then when true miracles begin to play out in his life. For the things received, he made no prior anticipation.
Just as it pleases the Father to bring to life all things unseen yet hidden in plain sight, so it is like that for the husband. Leave room, then, for him to unleash the many surprises that he wishes to share with you. Let it be for you, true joy while you continue in your daily travails, for the mundane welcomes opportunity for great unexpected pleasant surprises in your days.
It makes much room for wonderful surprises to unfold, if only we stop our continuous search in expectation and just live in the moment. And in that moment, just as the Father’s heart is enlightened when He sees the joy in His daughter’s eyes, face bright and the body radiant with glee, so too, leave much evidence with the husband.
Now, when he drops a grand surprise on you, don’t go sheepishly responding, “oh ok” in the calmest, almost muted voice with a manner dressed with such nonchalance, leaving much to the imagination. Show him that you treasure his element of surprise in your most natural character. Let it be made known, while you raise high your banners of love. For he truly relishes in the joy that he can bring to your life unexpectedly. Treasure the moment!

Experiencing the Father
As I begin to write, I gently inscribe these words on my heart: FEARLESSLY AUTHENTIC
As I begin to write, I gently inscribe these words on my heart: FEARLESSLY AUTHENTIC
Now I begin to write.
I don’t know about you, but when I put much thought in it, God must be thinking about man a lot. Forever, He has us in mind.
When I study the structure and function of the human body, I usually find myself in awe with the body’s architect and design. If you watch the human body in its naked form, one may observe it’s near symmetrical dimension. For everything, He made them in pairs.
I study then, the compensatory nature of the nose, when one of the nostrils becomes blocked as a result of nasal congestion from an inflammatory process. He had to be thinking about man, for though the sinuses and airway passages be blocked, He still made sure to keep one of the nostrils patent for adequate breathing. When one kidney is injured, another is present to continue its regulatory function. I am in awe of the replicative nature of the liver, how fast it grows back from a simple cut. My Father already had in mind the compensatory mechanisms of the body in the event of an acute insult or injury. How cool is that? Not to mention the electrical apparatus of the body; the parts always in constant communication through the neuro-hormonal systems.
I sit and wonder about how really tiny molecules move through in their cascading events just to provide man the energy that he needs for the day. How awesome it can be that He Himself powers the breath of life, causing inspiration and expiration as He pumps the blood running through the arteries and veins. The heart and the lung always in constant competition with each other, all powered by the Almighty Father. Awesomeness!
I insert a playful thought now...
He must really like his creation, man. For He not only made a life partner for the old Adam, but He deliberately took His great time to shape and form and remould his woman, quite distinct and apart from himself. He considered man’s feelings in the process. He even went as far as to make it much pleasurable such that the two become one for more love to enter into the world.
When God made man, He must have considered very much man’s feelings, as He watches his creation come to life.
This is the thing that boggles my mind. It really does!
Though God formed man, I imagine it must be difficult for Him to truly embody all that man feels from a very human perspective. Though He made Himself a human possibility when He created a splitting image of Himself and made Him flesh in Christ Jesus and though He feels for man, yet still, He is God. He would not think the way man does, though He formed him in the womb.
God is in everything and everything is in God, for He is God of all possibilities. And He is One.
His mysteries span through the depths of all eternity. His vastness too much to take hold of.
It is from this place where I understand how much important it is for man to communicate with his God. For it is in conversation, much ideas and thoughts can be exchanged between man and his Maker.
I now dig into my steep purse of imagination for the while, as I try to draw from it the treasures that I have once enjoyed.
From the eternal perspective, God has not yet completed his creation in forming man. No. This is not the case. In fact, man is still being made. God is very much detailed and process-oriented. He is also very thoughtful and when He does something, it is clear that He works them through in stages. After all, He took seven days to build all of the heaven and earth’s creation. Rest is also included as a step that concluded the process of building all of heaven and earth’s creation. Take note!
And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on that day He rested from all the work He had done in His creation. These are the successive steps in the creation of the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 2: 3,4)
When I think of rest, I automatically think that He must have had man in mind, for truly God does not rest. He considered the condition that man be made in his image and so, He gave Himself rest, so that man may also receive his rest from work. He clearly had man in his mind when He rested. Further, He blessed this rest day and made it holy. He then anticipates that man also be made holy.
Man is already seated in the bed of all eternity, for who can escape Him.
Where else could I go from your Spirit? Where could I flee from your presence? You are there if I ascend the heavens; you are there if I descend to the depths. If I ride on the wings of the dawn and settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand shall guide me and your right hand shall hold me safely. (Psalm 139: 7-10)
Yet, man is cut-off from accessing eternity because man is still placed in his box of time. Time is eternity slowed down for man. In the span of a piece of eternity slowed down, it makes room and allowance for man to appreciate his own developmental stages; how he was formed and came to be from since the beginning of time.
The Father allows man to witness man’s own being formed in the womb. He shows man this image in the woman who carries the womb and births the child. Man is still in his Mother’s spiritual womb. In the process, the Father allows man to see himself in his most rudimentary form, that is reflected in the old Adam. He speaks of salvation through Christ because this is one of the later or more developed stages that He had always intended for man to go through from since the beginning of time. It is in the in-between stages, is man able to see himself formed in a step-wise approach.
To do anything on the earth always involves a process that is step-wise.
The span of time afforded man to appreciate learning in a much step-wise fashion as he learns about his own development through time, while thinking about his Creator.
The WHOLE man was not complete until He was to be finally sealed with Christ as his Head, Lord and Master. This is the final product of making Man before he finally enters back into Eternity to be with his Father.
In this way, man is enveloped inside of the Alpha and Omega; the Beginning and End. Man is neatly enveloped inside all eternity.
When the WHOLE man has been formed, the span of time will be erased, in the blink of an eye, almost as if it were just a part of the Father’s imagination. Isn’t this some work of Art? For He is not only the Great Artist, but the Architect and Designer of Life itself.
While still within the span of time, God tests and prunes His creation to that point which fully satisfies His desires for man, as man remains swimming around in the pool of his Mother’s Womb. Man is still seeded inside Wisdom’s Womb, learning from Her, as he reads God's Word, and just waiting to be birthed forth. Isn’t it amazing how the whole earth is covered up in 100% water, though expressed in many different physical states? Truly awesome.
In the beginning, when God began to create the heavens and the earth, the earth had no form and was void; darkness was over the deep and the Spirit of God hovered over the waters. (Genesis 1: 1,2)
Painful is the lot of all humans, a heavy yoke is upon the sons of Adam from the day they leave their mother’s womb to the day they return to the mother of us all. (Sirach 40: 1)
I highlight the word: RETURN = (RE) TURN
That is to say, to go back AGAIN to man’s true Spiritual Mother.
Which implies that man was previously with his true Spiritual Mother, but then died to become human, with the box of time as his grave and is to be later revived through death of the flesh in order to receive true Life, when God’s Spirit is put back wholly into man and he becomes WHOLE again as the Father is WHOLE, to be once again reunited with his Spiritual Mother. I reflect deeply...
If I had to put it differently then, I would think that currently man is put under an anaesthetic, as he remains asleep while the Father is forming and transforming him throughout man’s earthly life. He has not yet made his final product. This is not too hard to imagine though, for God did already put Adam into a deep sleep when He was forming Eve. The Father is some Surgeon!>
I highly speculate then, that man is currently in the quality control and assurance department, being purified and purged in the flames of His furnace. How awesome is it then, that the Father is still considering man, even in the transformation stages of His creation. In this world, man has a choice to live with God for all eternity, and the Father longs for this day to come when man has reached his maturation age, that is, when the fullness of time has been reached.
I reflect then, on how the Father shapes and remolds and makes His bride into what He Himself truly desires. He cleanses man and washes him with His Word and makes him like new, ready to be in fellowship with Him. For He said be holy, for I am Holy.
God, in the fullness of His Wisdom, must have thought it pleasing to fix man to be in true companionship with Himself.
When man becomes cleansed through the Word, he now enters into true relationship with his Father.
You are already made clean by the word I have spoken to you. (John 15:3)
But now I think to myself.
Some say God is awesome.
I work to test this thought.
Now, I ask myself.
Why is He Awesome? Is it because everyone says He is?
If one says He is awesome, should I just agree, solely based on another’s experience?
This is a very, very crucial question one must ask himself. This is so crucial to man’s development, for God needs man’s true response as a form of feedback, as part of man’s product manufacture and development. He depends on man’s honesty. This is a question of quality assurance and it is only man who can provide the most appropriate feedback.
This is a very, very crucial question that I pose to my own self. It demands much rumination in mind.
So, now I go on to think...
Of course, if one doesn’t believe in God, for he himself has no rational basis for his belief, he is absolutely right to think this way. What he says is truth. This is the type of feedback that the Father actually needs from his creation, as He is still in the process of forming man.
Why is this important? For every quality test, a negative response is just as important to prove or reveal a positive one. If all were to respond in like mind, then what would be the point of asking in the first place? Some would be true positives and the rest regarded as false positives. God desires true feedback from man in man’s developmental stages.
But I poke this thought a little further.
Let me play with this thought for a little while longer.
This time, I present a cheeky idea.
When man lies in bed with his wife, does he think her awesome because everyone else says she is?
I think not, lest one has a marital issue at hand.
In the same way, if one has no true enthusiasm or meaning or appreciation, it is very fair for that one to not believe in his presence. This is the type of truth that God seeks out. He waits on man’s truest response.
Now, usually, I am not one to outwardly speak like this. But, have I roused up an emotion? Do I have one’s attention?
Well, this is exactly how the husband feels, when one praises Him with the mouth, yet doesn’t truly feel anything. He seeks not the lip service. As this contributes to a false positive result, robbing that one of a genuine relationship with the Father. All that He wants is for ALL of His children to recognize Him. He waits for His child to see.
Much attention, then, needs to be placed in considering one's experience with the Father.
He wants to be sure of what is being said, so He will put it to the test. Be careful, then, what one says with the lips. He wants His wife to be well-pleased. He wants to truly satisfy His bride. This is what pleases Him the most.
But of course, these are not my words, but what was told to me in secret.
In other words, the Father is longing for man to help bring out His greatest glory. When one shows much passion in His love, the Father can be rest assured that His wife is truly satisfied with Him and can therefore be faithful with Him throughout all eternity. My Father seeks faithfulness.
That is why I emphasise so much the importance of how man thinks of or sees his Maker. For what comes out of his mouth will surely be tested by fire. I look to Peter for evidence.
I read from the book of Matthew Chapter sixteen:
15 Jesus asked them, 'But you, who do you say I am?"
16 Peter answered. " You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."
17 Jesus replied, " it is well for you, Simon Barjona, for it is not flesh or blood that has revealed this to you but my Father in heaven.
I go on to read from the book of John Chapter twenty-one:
16 A second time Jesus said to him, " Simon, son of John, do you love me?" And Peter answered, " Yes, Lord, You know that I love you." Jesus said to him. "Look after my sheep."
17 And a third time he said to him, " Simon, son of John, do you love me?" and he said, " Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." Jesus then said, " Feed my sheep.
18 Truly I say to you, when you were young you put on your belt and walked where you liked. But when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands and another will put a belt around you and lead you where you do not wish to go."
19 Jesus said this to make known the kind of death by which Peter was to glorify God. And He added, " Follow Me."
Verse seventeen of the book of Matthew Chapter sixteen also highlights a very salient point:
17 Jesus replied, " it is well for you, Simon Barjona, for it is not flesh or blood that has revealed this to you but my Father in heaven.
I think to myself that it was God's Spirit speaking up for Peter when he gave his response. This is noteworthy. For it reminds me of the following.
So keep this in mind: do not worry in advance about what to answer, for I will give you words and wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to withstand or contradict. (Luke 21: 14,15)
I think to myself then, to be quiet, with the tongue still, resting on the strength of God's Holy Spirit to speak up for me when the opposition is ripe. I remain silent.
Now, I go on.
God relies heavily on man’s response and conversation with Him. God waits to be in true communication with man, one of his creations. God waits on intimacy with the WHOLE man.
And now this is the element of surprise! If one remains faithful and commits to his response, then when true conversion happens for the one who DOES NOT see, this conversion event serves to bring out an even greater glory for the Father. For initially, man who could not see now sees. Is this not a miracle! So, some eyes are shut just for God’s greater glory to be unleashed.
I read from the book of Luke Chapter fifteen:
27 ‘Your brother has come,’ he replied, ‘and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.’
28 “The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him.
29 But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends.
30 But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’
31 “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.
32 But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”
As Jesus walked along, He saw a man who had been blind from birth. His disciples asked Him, “Master, was he born blind because of a sin of his, or of his parents?” Jesus answered, “Neither was it for his own sin nor for his parents’. He was born blind so that God’s power might be shown in him. While it is day, we must do the work of the One who sent me; for the night will come when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” (John 9: 1-5)
One must be able to define, then, what makes his experience with God a pretty awesome one. Man must first identify within himself how God has specially touched his life and changed him in the making. It is from change that man recognizes the presence of his God that rests within him.
Man first recognizes the presence of his Maker before any true conversion can be established. Man works to recognize the presence of God in his life. When God enters one’s life, nothing ever truly remains in the same state for that one’s life prior to meeting Him. In God’s presence, EVERYTHING changes.
When one enters into His presence, then one begins to appreciate that ‘being’ state. In that state, there is no hurry or pressure to think or do anything. But just merely to be. To be as He is BEING. One moves from the worldly thinking plane to one that is just wrapped up in ‘being’; when man is existing in his authentic element. Man is not thinking for himself. He is only receiving as he rests under the shadow of God Almighty.
I say then, enter into Communion with the Holy One, through his Word and feel and be in His presence.
Just as His interest remains in His investment, so too, He seeks much returns on his Word. It never goes back to Him void.
Most times, one is too busy trying to please God with his works, counting his achievements, all the while, God is working mightily from His seat of eternity to please his children. God is the giver of love. He only searches for a willing vessel to receive the type of nurturing love that He has for his children.
One must first understand that the Father is the greatest servant of them all. And no one can ever outshine His generosity. There is no one greater! It is from His place of Eternity, the Father order the day and night. It is from His seat, that He makes the great span of the oceans. He never sleeps. As a mother hen, He watches over his chicks, making sure that each receives the appropriate nourishment and cover. One is guaranteed to find rest under His wing. What can man possibly give Him that He Himself doesn’t already have?
That is why I tell you, appreciation for what He does matters so much more than what we can ever possibly make or do for Him. When one shares with Him in the joy that He has already given, one reflexively includes Him in those special moments. The Father longs for inclusion in man’s special occasions. Man remembers his God in all seasons of his life.
Though invisible, He is very much present, yet one is not able to see His smile or laughter or great bundles of joy, there is a joy in His heart, nonetheless, for His children. That joy multiplies when one returns it to Him.
It is only when man is fat with love from his Father, there is an outpouring of the Spirit. As man receives, he finds much willingness to give. From the Source, everything else flows.
But now I make a note.
I want to play with the words found in a specific verse for the moment. It triggers me.
I read from the book of Proverbs Chapter twenty-three:
27 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
I kept re-reading this line over and over. This line tickled me for a good long while. I always remained in confusion each time I read this line.
In fact, this specific verse has been chopped down to read:
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.
It is only recently that I finally understood! In fact, the chopped off part answers the first part for me.
I think to myself for the moment...
Man may show himself up to give. But does he give willingly? Or is he expecting the Lord to give him something back in return? This seems to be a clever play utilizing one of God’s Laws.
I go deeper.
I read from the book of Sirach Chapter thirty-five:
9 Give to the Most High as He has given to you; give generously to the Lord according to what you have;
10 The Lord will repay, he will reward you sevenfold.
When I do word play, all I see is the use of this Law in reverse. Man seeks something, so he gives of what he seeks. If man seeks something, it also means he think it to himself that he lacks, suggesting that this man thinks himself NOT WHOLE= meaning that his feels as though he is still lacking. He therefore applies the law, thinking to receive even more than what he initially sowed into. Now, this more resembles the Law of Profitability.
But interestingly, however, the chopped part reveals this much:
...but his heart is not with thee.
Is this not the same as a deceitful heart?
This is a teaching point. God never expected man to give of what he already does not have. More so, man gives when he has, in the proportion that he has. Even more, one gives when he has sufficient to give and joyful in his giving. When one remains connected to his Source, ABBA, one is able to give more and joyfully at that. Man actually looks forward to giving, as He receives from the Lord. For he gives as much as he receives. Man must then, first experience WHOLENESS before he finds himself in a more suited position to give. This is an example of word play.
I extrapolate.
It is only when man becomes whole or one with the Father and the Son; it is only then, when man truly gives; he gives with his WHOLE heart.
Man is now able to give his life back to the Father. For he becomes one in the Son and the Son is One in the Father. So, man is one in the Father. From this WHOLE, the wealth of the Father flows through him as man is willing to wholeheartedly rest upon his Father for EVERYTHING he truly desires. God’s Will and man’s will become one and indiscernible.
Through praise and worship, one is able to communicate back to God, showing Him that he is happy and much satisfied with His works. But more importantly, it speaks to one’s appreciation for God’s presence.
That is, to say, one may utilize His laws over and over again. Indeed, one can become very successful with His laws, for they are sure and true. His laws are His treasures, but He also is as a Man, though He IS. When one plays with His laws with lack of recognition and little to no interaction with the Man behind the laws and principles, it is much the same as visiting a friend’s house, playing with his fancy toys, but rejecting the owner or heir of those very treasures. Though man reads God’s Word, he still has not found Him.
Jesus is the earthly connection to receive all that the Father is pleased to share. When man gets to know His Father in Jesus, by reading His Word, and listening to his thoughts through silent meditation, man then comes into a relationship with Him.
Live in Me as I live in you. The branch cannot bear fruit by itself but has to remain part of the vine; so neither can you if you don’t remain in me. (John 15: 4)
So, I have sat with myself and reflected...
My God is a very passionate and jealous God; an all- consuming fire. From the eternal perspective, I view God as wanting to know if His love, the man who He has been creating from since the beginning of time...
He wants to know if this man can handle the heat of His blazing passion. For God is Love and Life. And in Love, there is also an element of pain, for which He has temporarily kept locked within the box of time; that is, time that will eventually fade away.
Anyone who has ever engaged in love before knows the risk of heartache that accompanies such love. However, if there were no pain in the process of Love, then one may begin to question, if that love even existed at all? This is Love’s risk and this is real life.
It is for this reason why Solomon said not to awaken love before its time. Man must be mature enough to handle Love in all its seasons. Love is therefore scheduled for an appointed time and on an appointed time only, on a timeline only God alone knows.
But regarding that Day and that Hour, no one knows when it will come, not even the angels, not even the Son, but only the Father. (Mark 13: 32)
God Himself has kept the exact timing of the birth of his children a mystery.
Now, I play out an alternative point of view, from a much broader perspective. The Father plays out the probability in the sphere of time, that man is not faithful. For He reserved and saved the possibility of man’s faithfulness to play out in His space of all eternity.
The Father has taken the probability of man’s unfaithfulness towards Himself out from his bag of eternity to run out its chance in the space filled with time, that will eventually fade inside of eternity.
But the Father waits patiently for man to mature as he runs out his unfaithful ways through time, until man is ripe and ready to be born again into his eternal Kingdom, being in one with the Father and the Son.
I now enter into the Confessional Room.
Now, I know for sure this is the answer. For I have lived this life, feeling rejected most of the time because I carry so much passion inside of me, just waiting to be expressed.
The dilemma was always this: I never could find my equal to share in much passion. I live in my mind, not my body. Most live for the body. I live for the mind. I am spirit. I have all this pent- up love inside of me, yet historically had no one to truly guiltlessly and shamelessly share that type of love with.
So, instead, I decided to direct my energy towards the One who created me. And then I have come to some conclusion.
The passion built inside of me is reserved for that one who sees the real me and is daring enough to explore all that is hidden within. To the one who is daring enough to not only tickle but to profoundly penetrate and touch and mingle with to eventually reach into and become one with the heart of the mind; two minds becoming one, such that I may receive much clarity and sound mind. I long to receive a pleasant, yet thought provoking word. I savour on a good word, while always longing to be read.
Now, I say too much.
It has only now come to my attention that this highly risk averse, stoic and muted little island girl now sees herself as a big- time gambler. For she has gambled her life away just to move in a little closer to feel a type of Love that can only be given by her Heavenly Father. Nothing beats a Father’s Tender Love. For I found the Ultimate Source of my Confidence in Love; as I rest in the arms of my heavenly Father.
Now, I say no more.
I make a final point on this note as I sit within the confines of the Confessional Room and I emphasise.
This is my vantage point. This is what He allowed me to see. He allowed me to live through this possibility of the many other possibilities in Life’s Probability.
For another person, they will view life from a different vantage point, living through a different possibility. What one sees is a reflection of life itself and the reflection looks different for everyone who sees.
It is for that one to piece back the broken pieces of that mirror of his life through God’s eyes, by reading his Word and you will be surprised by what you see. This is Life’s Probability.
When one merges his personal life experiences with the Word of God, he begins to see the real truth for himself. The Word acts as the unfiltered spectacles of Life, to allow that one to truly see.

God created his works from the beginning and, as He made them, He assigned to each its place. He arranged them for all time, their beginning and their unfolding... (Sirach 16: 26, 27)
Nicodemus said, "How can there be rebirth for a grown man? Who could go back to his mother's womb and be born again?" Jesus replied, " Truly, I say to you: No one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit. What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Because of this, don't be surprised when I say: ' You must be born again from above.' (John 3: 4-7)

But now, it only occurred to me...
All the while, man was undergoing major surgery; the biggest operation of his life, all done in this box of time. No wonder man lived all his days on earth in so much pain. He kept being shaped and reshaped, things being moved around in his life and re-arranged, manipulating elements during his surgical procedure. Man kept being transformed through time. But now, I think to myself, man be made ready to be sutured up, fixed and well-assorted, putting on fine wear, all decked out in the glorious robe of Christ as his new Man. Man moves away from his temporary dwelling of pain during his surgery when he wakes up. And when he does wake up, he will receive the biggest amnesia of his life, making him forget all the surgical trauma that he has endured to the heart throughout the surgical procedure. GASP!! God wasn’t lying when He said that He would circumcise the heart of man to put Himself in it. How Awesome! Man will finally wake up to enter into his real life as a new man made in God’s image and likeness, to experience his everlasting bliss.
The Lord your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live. (Deuteronomy 30: 6)
You will again obey the Lord and follow all his commands I am giving you today. (Deuteronomy 30: 8)

The Servant
Never really are we truly judges of our own selves. For life itself may come in to test and probe us to help us to reveal little bits and pieces of the true identity. Never ever do we really assign our own selves the roles and acts that we are to assume, for Life itself propels one in the direction he wants us to go. Most see life through the lens of property ownership, accumulation of transient wealth, with the hope of growing one’s legacy.
This is not the case for the servant life, however. For his lot, life itself is his portion. He moves where the wind takes him and is of good cheer to serve as he is called to do so. Willingly he gives as much as he receives and takes joy in giving. His riches are the great wealth poured unto him from life itself, interacting with the world in which he lives, yet not truly taking ownership of any one thing. For his riches is life itself. He is rich indeed. A very disciplined life he must live, with strict focus on his mission. He is spirit driven as he is very much fed by the spirit. Skilled he is to accomplish all that he must do as life itself treats him to such pleasures. Not always does the servant know that he truly is the servant, for life has not yet taught him this much. Sometimes, we work when we are not even thinking that we are working in the first place and this is the great beauty of being one of life’s servants.
A Solemn Prayer
O my God, with all the strength of my soul, assisted by Your grace, I desire and resolve to resist and deny all my own will, earthly tempers, selfish views and inclinations- everything that the spirit of this world and the vanity of fallen nature draws me to. I give myself up wholly and solely to You; to be all Yours; to have, do, and be inwardly and outwardly, according to Your good pleasure. I desire to live for no other purpose that to accomplish the work that You require of me- a humble, obedient, faithful, thankful instrument in Your hands, to be used as You please.” – William Law
