|| Shame
Shame. One of life’s greatest distractions. Quite the oxymoron; dubbed the shameless offender. Shame may suddenly come upon one, much like a thief in the night, holding its victim hostage, for many a days or possibly even an entire lifetime. We all go through bouts of shame at one point or the other in our lives. But what happens to the one who lives life completely bounded by shame? For this is one of life’s greatest injustices, holding captive to the one silently calling out to be set free.
The worst type of bondage is the one of the mind, as it sits discreetly in a crowd, yet never really being truly discerned by anyone. Shame is the prison that steals the joy and the very life of the captive. For that one has been arrested in his seed form, not really wanting his true colours to show. Shame shows no remorse for its victim. Blinded, it remains in the sentence that it lashes out. Shame draws a crowd, feeding on the energies that seemingly take shape as its accomplice. There is a battle at stake. For shame hides a dark secret. Though shameless and unremorseful, the only life truly given to shame is by the one it holds captive and none other.
Shame acts aggressively in fear that its greatest secret be not yet revealed. For its captive has learnt of his ways. He smells it from the furthest distance. He can read what shame will do next. After all, he has lived with shame all his life. There is a diminishing return in power from that much what shame has already invested into torturing its captive. For much like the works of light, the darkest parts will be revealed. What is hidden in the dark will come to light. For the captive’s lot, true knowledge brings enlightenment; a truth that cannot be hidden or buried. It is only for the captive to take courage, yielding to the Lord and His Law, asking for the light to be shed in the darkest places of one’s life, calling into forgiveness and seeking the true knowledge that will ultimately set his heart free.
Sometimes, our very secrets keep us imprisoned in the world in which we live. Though not yet revealed, there is a truthful light which pierces every thought and circumstance assisting to bring one to a state of knowing and then understanding, which then removes the fear of it all and then ultimately, the shame of it all. Shame comes when we do not fully appreciate the whole circumstance, as we capture and keep just the tiny fragments from those traumatizing circumstances.
For the battle remains much in the mind, with shame being its greatest contender. Take courage and know that the good Lord is fighting for you, if only you lean into Him.
