Many men go in search of a beautiful woman. For it is I who said, ‘It is not good for Man to be alone. I thought to myself, ‘I will give him a helper who will be like him.’ It is from his rib, that I form his woman and it is I who bring her to meet with him. From this, it is man who knows and recognizes his own rib. Selah! It is always good for friends and companions to meet, better still for husband and wife. Selah! But what about this beautiful woman? She adorns herself in the kindness of her heart. Kindness is like a garden of blessings and charity endures forever. A gracious woman gains honour. A woman’s beauty rejoices people and is beyond all that could be wished for. Like the light which shines from the sacred lampstand, such is a beautiful face in a well-shaped body. Like pillars of gold on a silver base, such are beautiful legs on sturdy feet. The curves of her hips like jewels, the work of a master art. The modest woman is a favour among favours; the chaste wife, priceless. So, my dear, this beautiful woman is her husband’s crown; a lady of noble character. May I say, listen, O daughter, and pay careful attention; forget your father’s house and your nation. Let the King be enthralled by your beauty. May you give Him the great pleasure in honouring Him, for He is your Lord. Your sons will take the place of your father, you will make them princes throughout the land. Selah! 28.05.24
